History of Sparkspell Part One
Also readable at
lorerising WBW #1 post; see comment here.
What's your clan's origin story? Who founded it? Where did its original members come from?
Originally, Clan Sparkspell was founded by a Mirror and a Guardian who mostly just wanted to be left alone; they both left their respective clans for a small natural cave in the middle of the desert which they did not intend to share with anyone else. The existence of the clan as it is now is entirely their son Jillian's fault.
Jillian wanted to figure out how to create sentient life, using a combination of magic and technology, but in order to do that he had to do it wrong a whole bunch of times first; and in order to do that efficiently, he needed more people. He basically began a massive recruitment campaign to draw in anyone with the slightest interest in his work, which ended up being slightly more than he expected. And all these dragons packed into one place needed food and shelter and protection and, well, you get the idea.
Theoretically all these dragons should have been Jillian's responsibility to manage since their presence was his fault to begin with, but he was very busy making poor life choices and blowing things up, and anyway a lot of his subordinates didn't actually like him very much. He was kind of overbearing and wouldn't let anyone work on their own projects.
Which meant that complaints and requests and whatever else were all addressed to Lire and Deuce, his parents, who were not very pleased about this. They didn't exactly wholly reject the responsibility, but, well, there was a lot of unfinished and otherwise poorly handled work done during that time, they did nothing to curb their son's megalomaniacal asshole tendencies, and generally they just were not involved to the extent that they should have been.
Anyway, eventually a newcomer to the clan, absolutely appalled by the way things were being run, suggested that she'd do a better job of things; and Lire and Deuce took the opportunity to abandon ship more or less overnight and haven't been seen since. But that's getting a bit tangential.
